Qualifications:
- Active Illinois PEL with Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) endorsement (required)
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally in a school setting
- Itinerant experience highly valued
- Excellent communication and consultative skills when collaborating with teachers, families, and support staff
- Commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy for students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in elementary and middle school settings
- Assess individual student needs and help develop customized learning strategies and educational materials
- Travel between schools as part of an itinerant service model, efficiently managing a flexible caseload
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Adapt instructional methods, technology, and classroom environments to promote participation and achievement
- Contribute to IEP development, progress reporting, and student advocacy
