Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) / Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M) with this contract opportunity at a vibrant district near Aurora, IL. This role offers the chance to engage with a range of students and collaborate closely with staff across multiple buildings. The assignment runs from ASAP through December 18, 2026, with strong potential for an extension through the full academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist
- Experience serving school-age children and collaborating with IEP teams
- Strong communication skills and a team-centered approach
- Ability to travel among multiple school sites within the district
- Flexibility and adaptability as assignments may shift based on student caseload
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in their academic and functional skills
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) that address accessibility and independence
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt materials, technology, and learning environments
- Conduct assessments in both TVI and O&M (as credentialed) to determine students’ needs and instructional goals
- Travel daily among three district buildings for TVI and three for O&M services
