Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with a range of visual impairments, including those requiring braille instruction
- Strong collaboration skills to consult with general education teachers, special education staff, and families
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive tools for students with visual needs
- Ability to travel between sites as an itinerant teacher
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver consultative support to school teams, ensuring students’ access to curriculum and accommodations
- Assess students’ visual needs and collaborate on the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Provide some direct instruction in braille, adapted materials, and use of technology
- Work closely with teachers, staff, and families to promote inclusion and student progress
- Serve as an expert resource on best practices and adaptations for visually impaired students
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and service documentation
