Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a contract basis. Support students who are blind or have visual impairments to succeed in their educational journey. This position involves direct instruction for two 2nd-grade students during the 2026-2027 school year, focusing on individualized, in-person services. One student will require braille instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with school-aged children, ideally in elementary settings
  • Proficiency in braille instruction (required for one student)
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology and resources for visually impaired students
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with educational teams
  • Passion for fostering independence and inclusive learning

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct, individualized instruction to two 2nd-grade students according to their IEPs:
    • Student 1: Three 45-minute sessions and one 10-minute session per week
    • Student 2: One 45-minute session per week (four times per month)
  • Plan and implement lessons that promote academic, social, and functional skills
  • Assess and document student progress toward IEP goals
  • Utilize and teach assistive technology and specialized materials
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support each student's growth
  • Provide braille instruction, ensuring one student has access to appropriate learning tools
