1:1 Long-Term Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Carson City, NV

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) is required
• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Prior experience working with visually impaired students, especially in a 1:1 or pediatric environment, is highly preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
• Compassionate, resourceful, and committed to fostering student independence and growth

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, individualized instruction to a visually impaired student, supporting their educational and developmental needs
• Adapt curriculum materials to meet the student’s access requirements, ensuring equitable participation in classroom activities
• Use specialized tools and techniques, including braille, assistive technology, and orientation-mobility strategies, as appropriate
• Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to develop and implement effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor, document, and communicate student progress toward goals and make adjustments as needed
• Advocate for an inclusive, supportive school environment tailored to the student’s abilities and aspirations
