This part-time, contract opportunity is ideal for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who are passionate about helping students access their education and reach their full potential during the 26/27 school year. In this itinerant role, you’ll work 20 hours per week, providing essential services as you travel between campuses.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching strategies for learners with visual impairments
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and therapy providers
- Ability to travel between multiple campuses as required
- Experience with both Braille instruction and adaptive technology is highly valued
Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille and assistive technology, fostering independence for students with visual impairments
- Consult with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create accessible learning environments
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom settings to ensure barrier-free participation
- Monitor student progress, adjust interventions, and provide regular updates to IEP teams
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource on visual impairment in the school community
