Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong understanding of assessment tools and instructional strategies for visually impaired students
- Experience working with K-12 students in a school environment preferred
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum for individual student needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Willingness to commute between campuses as an itinerant teacher
- Commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy in students
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to meet the needs of students with visual impairments
- Conduct and interpret functional vision and learning media assessments
- Collaborate with educators, families, and school teams to develop and implement IEP goals
- Provide guidance on adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and orientation/mobility strategies as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate records of student progress
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students and their educational teams
- Travel among different school campuses as part of a flexible, supportive service delivery model
