In this part-time, itinerant contract position, you’ll make a significant impact by empowering students with visual impairments to thrive academically and improve their independence.
As a TVI, you will travel between campus locations near Patterson, CA, providing direct and consultative services. Your expertise will be essential in adapting curriculum, utilizing assistive technology, and collaborating with educational staff to create accessible learning environments for each student.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid State Certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred.
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and materials adaptation.
- Familiarity with IEP/504 processes and compliance.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel between multiple schools during the workweek.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as needed.
- Assess students’ needs and develop individualized educational strategies.
- Train and consult with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to optimize student progress.
- Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are implemented in classroom settings.
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings.
- Support transition planning and orientation/mobility training in collaboration with related service providers.
