Make a difference as a dedicated educator supporting students who are visually impaired for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract opportunity offers a dynamic environment, where you'll collaborate across elementary, middle, and high schools, traveling between campuses within a manageable geographic area.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid DOE certification required
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments, across K-12+ age ranges
- Proficiency in Braille, with the ability to instruct students and support staff
- Familiarity with assistive technology, including accessing tools via Federal Quota programs (preferred but not required)
- Ability to balance support for both students in general education settings and those with additional disabilities in specialized classrooms
- Comfort participating in IEP meetings and using digital platforms such as TN Pulse
- Experience in an itinerant teaching model is a plus
- Willingness to complete fingerprinting and other credentialing as required
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in visual impairment strategies to students in a variety of settings
- Travel between multiple campuses, with assignments designed to minimize commute times
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs
- Train staff on assistive technology and methodologies critical for student access
- Maintain accurate documentation and records as required by district protocols
