The upcoming school year offers a fresh opportunity to shape flexible, supportive itinerant services—positions have been dedicated to serving students across elementary, middle, and high school, ensuring an even distribution and geographically assigned schools to minimize travel.
What We're Looking For:
- Active DOE certification (required)
- At least five years of experience as a Virtual TVI, if applying for a virtual role
- Expertise with Braille and assistive technology; familiarity with accessing technology via the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Comfort working in both general education and special education classroom settings
- Strong collaboration skills for participation in IEP meetings, utilizing the TN Pulse platform
- Flexibility for itinerant scheduling and travel between assigned schools (schedule and caseload finalized soon)
- Ability to work full-time (35 hours/week); part-time may be considered
- Fingerprinting required for credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to K-12+ students with visual impairments
- Assess individual student needs and adapt resources using assistive technology and Braille
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and special educators for inclusive instruction
- Participate actively in IEP development and meetings
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using TN Pulse and comply with all district procedures
