This full-time, contract opportunity is perfect for passionate Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) ready to make a meaningful impact across a K-12+ caseload for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
As an itinerant TVI, you will travel between geographically assigned schools, helping to minimize commute times while providing vital instruction and support. Students range from elementary through high school, both in general education classrooms and specialized settings for those with multiple disabilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid DOE certification for teaching visually impaired students
- Proficiency in Braille and experience with assistive technology (extra consideration for Federal Quota program knowledge)
- Ability to work with diverse student populations and adapt to various classroom environments
- Familiarity with the TN Pulse IEP platform or willingness to learn
- Completion of mandatory fingerprinting prior to start
- Comfortable utilizing Chromebooks for student instruction
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to K-12+ students with visual impairments across assigned schools
- Travel between campuses as scheduled, with efforts to streamline routes
- Lead and participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with staff and families
- Customize learning resources and technologies to fit individual student needs
- Deliver Braille instruction and facilitate use of assistive devices
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district guidelines
