Key Qualifications & Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification.
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of Braille, large print materials, and assistive technology for the visually impaired.
- Ability to perform functional vision assessments and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, multidisciplinary teams, and staff.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Delivering tailored instruction based on each student’s unique needs, using appropriate methodologies and adaptive technology.
- Conducting ongoing assessments of students’ visual abilities and recommending instructional strategies or accommodations.
- Creating and implementing IEPs in collaboration with school teams, monitoring progress, and adjusting goals as necessary.
- Coordinating with classroom teachers, therapists, and support personnel to adapt school materials and ensure accessibility.
- Engaging families in the educational process by providing resources, progress updates, and strategies for support at home.
