Full-time (35 hours/week) or potential part-time opportunities are available for skilled Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year. You’ll work on a contract basis, traveling between geographically grouped schools to provide vital services for K-12+ students in both general education and specialized environments.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE certification required
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for students with visual impairments; knowledge of accessing technology via the Federal Quota program is highly desirable
- Prior experience with itinerant caseloads and serving a diverse K-12+ student population
- Ability to navigate and contribute to TN Pulse for IEP documentation and meetings
- Experience supporting students with multiple disabilities and collaborating with school teams
- Fingerprinting and all time-sensitive credentialing requirements must be met prior to start
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct support and instruction to visually impaired students across several assigned schools
- Tailor educational materials and methods to student needs, including the use of Braille and specialized tools
- Assess and recommend appropriate assistive technology, ensuring students’ access to the curriculum (on Chromebooks)
- Actively collaborate with general and special education teams, participating in IEP meetings
- Create, update, and maintain accurate documentation on the TN Pulse platform
- Manage a split caseload of students in both general educations and special needs settings
