Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Soddy Daisy, Tennessee
Step into a meaningful contract role supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, working with K-12+ learners throughout the Chattanooga area. This full-time opportunity (35 hours per week, with possible part-time flexibility) runs from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027. The position is itinerant, with travel between assigned schools—but assignments are carefully grouped to minimize drive time.
There is potential for virtual consideration; candidates interested in the virtual option must have at least five years of experience as a Virtual TVI. The caseload will be balanced among elementary, middle, and high school students, supporting those in both general education and special education settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Active DOE certification.
- Demonstrated experience with Braille instruction and relevant assistive technology.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Assistive Technology via the Federal Quota program.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a Virtual TVI (for virtual applicants).
- Ability to navigate and contribute within the TN Pulse IEP platform.
- Comfortable traveling between multiple schools as assigned.
- Completion of fingerprinting and time-sensitive credentialing requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across K-12+.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt curriculum and classroom materials.
- Utilize and teach assistive technology, supporting Chromebook access for students.
- Participate in IEP meetings and assist in the development of student plans.
- Maintain documentation and support ongoing communication with staff and families.
