This opportunity offers a flexible, itinerant schedule traveling between schools within a geographically assigned area, aiming to minimize travel time. The caseload consists of a balanced mix of elementary, middle, and high school students, including those in general education as well as students with multiple disabilities in specialized classrooms.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid DOE certification with current credentials
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), including knowledge of Braille and assistive technology
- Comfortable accessing assistive technology via the Federal Quota Program (preferred)
- Familiarity with Chromebooks for student use
- Proficiency with the TN Pulse platform for IEP management
- Willingness to complete timely fingerprinting and background checks
- Ability to work both with general education and multi-needs student populations
- Strong communication skills and flexibility to serve multiple sites
Primary Responsibilities:
- Travel between assigned schools to provide direct and consultative services for K-12+ students
- Develop, adapt, and implement instructional materials, including Braille and technology-based resources
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and attend IEP meetings using TN Pulse
- Provide support in both general education and special needs settings
- Guide students’ use of assistive technology to ensure full access to curriculum
- Maintain thorough records and progress reports, and contribute to student evaluations
