Step into a rewarding, full-time contract role supporting students across K-12 as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI). Beginning August 5, 2026 through May 19, 2027, you’ll provide invaluable instruction and support for students in the Chattanooga area, with caseloads thoughtfully assigned to minimize travel between schools. This is an itinerant position, engaging students in general education settings and those with multiple disabilities. Your Experience and Skills:
- Active Department of Education certification, ready for immediate credentialing.
- Previous experience as a TVI in school environments, comfortable with K-12 populations.
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and integrating Assistive Technology; familiarity with Federal Quota program processes is a welcome plus.
- Confidence supporting a mixed caseload between general education and moderate/severe needs classrooms.
- Experience attending and contributing to IEP meetings; working knowledge of TN Pulse or other IEP platforms is beneficial.
- Skilled in Chromebook technology as a platform for student learning and accommodation.
- Completion of required fingerprinting/background check prior to start date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to visually impaired and multiply-disabled students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in crafting, executing, and updating IEPs.
- Train staff and families in the use of assistive devices and accessibility tools.
- Provide ongoing assessments and adjust instruction to maximize student progress.
- Travel between assigned schools as part of a strategically designed schedule.
