Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE Certification required
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), spanning elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Proficiency in Braille and use of Assistive Technology; knowledge of navigating the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Familiarity with the TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation and process
- Ability to work itinerantly, traveling between schools assigned within close geographical areas
- Comfortable supporting students in general education and special classroom environments, including those with multiple disabilities
- Must complete a fingerprint-based background check prior to start
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, supporting their academic and functional success
- Collaborate actively in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to personalized education plans
- Train and support students and staff in the use of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials, including maintaining Chromebooks for student use
- Travel between assigned schools, managing a balanced caseload determined by district needs
- Partner with classroom teachers, staff, and families to ensure accommodations and modifications are effectively implemented
