This contract opportunity offers an engaging itinerant role, serving students throughout elementary, middle, and high school classrooms, both in general education and specialized settings. Role Highlights:
- Work with students in grades K-12+ across a variety of school settings and levels of need
- Develop and implement individualized instruction and accommodations in Braille and assistive technology
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including contributing to IEP meetings via the TN Pulse platform
- Caseloads include students in both general education and special classrooms, with varied disabilities
- Utilize Chromebooks and modern assistive tech; knowledge of the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Flexible full-time commitment (35 hours per week), with consideration for part-time schedules
- Support district effort to deliver consistent, high-quality vision services
- Adhere to credentialing requirements, including fingerprint clearance and maintaining an active DOE teaching certificate
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid DOE teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology
- Experience or strong understanding of IEP processes
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites (all assigned within a manageable geographic area)
- Previous experience working with students who have a wide range of abilities is preferred
- Completion of fingerprint/background check requirements in a timely manner
