You will work primarily with students in general education classrooms as well as those with multiple disabilities in specialized settings. The district ensures geographic assignments are structured to reduce commute time between schools. Schedules and specific school assignments will be established soon, with consideration for both full-time (35 hours/week) and potential part-time candidates.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE teaching certification
- Thorough knowledge of Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Experience or familiarity with the Federal Quota program is a bonus
- Capable of effectively navigating Chromebooks as part of instruction delivery
- Proficiency using TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation and participation in meetings
- Completion of required fingerprinting and credentialing steps
- Previous experience in itinerant settings or working with a diverse K-12+ caseload preferred
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to visually impaired students in a variety of settings
- Collaborate with general and special educators to adapt and modify curriculum
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and maintain documentation in TN Pulse
- Travel between assigned schools as scheduled, supporting student independence and classroom success
- Implement and manage assistive technology tools and resources
