Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE teaching certification in Visual Impairment
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, across elementary, middle, and high school levels
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and the use of assistive technologies (knowledge of the Federal Quota program is a plus)
- Experience participating in IEP development and meetings, ideally with familiarity using the TN Pulse platform
- Willingness to travel between geographically clustered school sites as part of an itinerant service model
- Strong collaborative skills to work with general and special education staff
- Ability to adapt materials and methods for students in both general education and specialized classroom settings
- Successful completion of fingerprinting and background checks
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to a varied caseload of visually impaired students
- Adapt and implement curriculum materials, employing assistive technology and Braille as needed
- Collaborate with IEP teams and participate in meetings to contribute expertise and progress reports
- Train and support staff and family members on tools and strategies for student success
- Maintain accurate records and service logs, ensuring compliance with all district and state requirements
