Bring your expertise in teaching students with visual impairments to support K-12 learners across several schools in the Chattanooga area. This full-time, itinerant role covers 35 hours per week for the 2026-2027 academic year, with the flexibility to consider part-time arrangements based on candidate needs. You'll travel between geographically assigned schools (schedule to be finalized soon) to ensure equitable access to education for students with a range of visual needs—spanning general education settings as well as specialized classrooms for those with additional disabilities.
In this position, you’ll make a significant difference by:
- Delivering direct instruction in Braille and utilizing assistive technology to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Supporting both general and special education students from elementary through high school.
- Collaborating on and facilitating IEP meetings; documenting student progress using the TN Pulse platform.
- Providing expertise in using and managing Chromebooks and advocating for technology resources, including accessing assistive tools through the Federal Quota program if experienced.
- Navigating multiple campuses efficiently, with travel minimized through intentional school assignments.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification from the Department of Education specific to teaching students with visual impairments.
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and assistive technology, with a strong commitment to inclusive education.
- Previous experience in schools or with itinerant caseloads is valued.
- Ability to successfully complete fingerprinting and credentialing requirements.
