Make a lasting impact on students’ lives by helping visually impaired learners thrive in K-12 educational settings. We're seeking two skilled professionals to provide crucial support across an itinerant caseload, facilitating access and inclusion in both general education and specialized classrooms throughout the Chattanooga area. This full-time, contract opportunity runs from August 5th, 2026, through May 19th, 2027, and will consider part-time candidates as well. As part of your role, you’ll work collaboratively with school teams, contribute expertise to IEP meetings via the TN Pulse platform, and help ensure students succeed with the assistive technology and accommodations they need.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid DOE Certification for teaching students with visual impairments
- Knowledge of Braille and experience implementing Braille literacy
- Familiarity with assistive technology (bonus for Federal Quota program experience)
- Demonstrated ability to work with both general and special education students from elementary through high school
- Travel comfort—positions require moving between assigned schools (travel kept regionally clustered)
- Experience participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with digital educational platforms, especially TN Pulse and Chromebooks
- Successful completion of fingerprinting and time-sensitive credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students K-12+ across several campuses
- Assess student needs, create and modify lesson plans, and provide individualized strategies
- Train school staff and coordinate supports for students within classroom settings
- Support the effective use of assistive technologies and devices
- Contribute expertise and documentation for IEP development and meetings
- Flexibly manage varying caseloads and work environments
