This full-time contract opportunity focuses on empowering K-12+ learners to thrive through specialized instruction and accessibility solutions. You'll offer direct support across elementary, middle, and high school campuses, with your schedule thoughtfully structured to minimize travel.
Your work will be highly collaborative, partnering with general educators, special educators, families, and related services professionals to deliver inclusive educational experiences. You’ll be at the forefront of integrating assistive technology and ensuring each student’s learning journey is tailored and accessible.
Qualifications:
- Valid DOE certification with the appropriate endorsement for teaching students who are visually impaired
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, in both general education and special education settings
- Proficient in Braille instruction and foundational assistive technology skills (knowledge of accessing devices via the Federal Quota program is a plus)
- Familiarity with developing and maintaining IEPs, preferably using the TN Pulse platform
- Strong organizational and communication skills for managing an itinerant schedule and collaborating on IEP teams
- Ability to complete time-sensitive fingerprinting requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide itinerant instructional support and consultation to students with visual impairments across multiple campuses
- Work with a diverse caseload spanning elementary, middle, and high school, including students with multiple disabilities
- Facilitate access to curriculum using Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and technology (Chromebooks)
- Collaborate actively in IEP meetings and maintain accurate educational records
- Advise teachers and staff on accommodations and resources for visually impaired students
