Embark on a fulfilling contract assignment as an educator supporting students who are visually impaired in the vibrant Chattanooga area. This full-time opportunity (35 hours per week, with the potential to consider part-time arrangements) spans the academic year from August 5, 2026, to May 19, 2027. You’ll have an itinerant caseload across elementary, middle, and high school levels, providing essential services and advocacy for students in general education and specialized classroom settings. Assignments are thoughtfully scheduled to minimize travel time.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid DOE teaching certification
  • Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), ideally with students ranging from kindergarten through high school
  • Proficiency in Braille and use of Assistive Technology (particularly those accessible through the Federal Quota program is a plus)
  • Comfortable managing a dynamic, itinerant caseload and adapting to a variety of educational environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in IEP meetings (familiarity with the TN Pulse platform is advantageous)
  • Experience supporting both general education students and those with multiple disabilities
  • Willingness to travel between assigned schools using a district-provided schedule
  • Chromebook proficiency
  • Completion of fingerprinting and compliance with credentialing requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction and support services to students with visual impairments K-12
  • Coordinate with general and special education staff on individualized accommodations and progress monitoring
  • Participate actively in IEP processes and documentation
  • Implement and train on Assistive Technology solutions
  • Foster an inclusive, empowering educational environment
