Make a meaningful impact this school year by supporting students with visual impairments across the Chattanooga area. We are seeking two dedicated professionals to fill full-time contract roles for the 2026–2027 academic year, with the potential for a part-time schedule if needed. Starting August 5, 2026, and continuing through May 19, 2027, you'll work alongside educational leaders to make learning accessible and engaging for K-12+ students.
Qualifications:
- Valid DOE certification is required
- Strong command of Braille
- Proficiency using a range of assistive technologies; experience accessing technology through the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Prior experience working with K-12+ caseloads, across both general education and special education settings
- Familiarity with IEP processes and TN Pulse platform is highly preferred
- Capable of traveling between school sites (itinerant role); geographical assignments are designed to minimize travel
- Must complete all necessary fingerprinting and credentialing steps prior to start
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both in general and special education settings
- Assess student needs and implement individualized instructional strategies
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and participate in IEP meetings
- Train students on use of assistive technology and Chromebooks
- Travel between assigned schools within a designated region, maintaining thorough documentation
- Provide resources, guidance, and support to school staff and families as needed
