Two full-time roles are available for the upcoming academic year, providing essential support to students across K-12+ levels. Flexibility is built into this contract assignment, with the possibility of part-time arrangements for the right candidates. The assignment runs from August 5th, 2026 to May 19th, 2027, with a thoughtfully crafted schedule to minimize travel between schools in the Chattanooga area.
Candidates experienced with virtual teaching are highly encouraged to apply, especially those with at least five years working as a Virtual TVI. There may be an opportunity for a virtual-only role, allowing you to impart your expertise from anywhere.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active DOE teaching certification
- Substantial experience teaching students with visual impairments, K-12+
- Proficiency in Braille and hands-on experience with assistive technology
- Familiarity with accessing technology via the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Prior experience using the TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation and participation in IEP meetings
- Comfortable supporting both general education and special education students, including those with multiple disabilities
- Recent fingerprint clearance is required
- For virtual candidates: at least five years as a Virtual TVI
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve a diverse caseload by providing direct instruction and consultative services
- Travel between schools as scheduled, or deliver effective virtual instruction if applicable
- Support students’ access to curriculum using specialized technology and methodologies
- Collaborate in IEP planning, compliance, and ongoing progress reporting
- Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented seamlessly in all settings
