Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Proficient in creating, adapting, and delivering instructional materials in accessible formats
- Familiarity with assistive technology tools and orientation & mobility strategies
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility to adapt to diverse learning needs and individualized education plans (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ vision needs and develop individualized goals and lesson plans
- Deliver direct instruction in core subjects, compensatory skills, and adaptive techniques
- Advocate for student inclusion by providing consultation and training to staff
- Support the use of Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records in alignment with IEP requirements
- Engage families in the educational process through consistent communication and support
