This role offers 32.5 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm, allowing for a balanced routine during the academic year. Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification (Instructional I or II)
- Experience working with students in grades K–12 preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accommodations for visually impaired learners
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility in adapting to the varying needs of a diverse caseload
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Assess and document student progress, adjusting instruction based on individual needs
- Provide support and training to school staff on best practices for visually impaired students
- Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support
- Advocate for access to materials, technology, and resources necessary for student success
