K-5 Grades 6 - 8 Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator skilled in supporting visually impaired students within grades K-12! We are seeking a certified professional to provide specialized instruction on a contract basis for the upcoming school year, ensuring students receive the resources, guidance, and encouragement necessary for academic and personal success.
Your role will offer meaningful engagement across a variety of grade levels, working with students individually and in groups to foster development, independence, and confidence. This full-time position spans 32.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM – 3:15 PM), starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 3, 2025.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification (Instructional I or II)
- Demonstrated experience teaching learners with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Collaborative approach, engaging with general educators, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students in grades K–12, adapting curriculum to individual learning needs
- Conduct assessments and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Consult with classroom teachers to modify materials and implement accessibility measures
- Implement technology and adaptive resources to facilitate learning and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing educational planning
- Advocate for students’ needs and foster an inclusive classroom environment
