Serving students in both preschool and school-age settings, you'll play a key role in providing essential vision services, evaluations, and educational support as part of a dedicated collaborative team.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Certification in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Solid understanding of special education practices and relevant regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proven experience with IEP development and participation
  • Capable of managing a dynamic caseload and record-keeping responsibilities
  • Comfortable utilizing assistive and adaptive technologies related to visual impairment
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, and safely lift up to 20 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of equipment up to 40 pounds

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering comprehensive vision services and conducting assessments for students with visual impairments
  • Actively partnering with families, multi-disciplinary service providers, and school personnel to create individualized learning plans
  • Collaborating with educators and specialized staff to support inclusive classroom environments
  • Ensuring student safety, welfare, and educational progress
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations

This position follows a 185-day contract and offers salary and benefits in alignment with the existing collective bargaining agreement.
