Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Orientation and Mobility (O & M) certification—a plus, not a necessity.
  • Experience or knowledge in special education regulations and compliance.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build connections with students, families, and staff.
  • Proficiency with technology relevant to instruction for visually impaired learners.
  • Capability to manage caseloads efficiently and meet timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct vision services and thorough evaluations for students from preschool through school age.
  • Actively contribute to the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other service providers to tailor educational approaches to each student’s needs.
  • Coordinate with support agencies and school personnel to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation as required.
  • Foster the safety, security, and well-being of all students.
  • Engage in physical tasks as part of your role, including walking, standing, stooping, and lifting educational materials or equipment up to 40 pounds as needed.
