Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Georgia Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12) teaching certificate
OR
Georgia Special Education certificate with Visual Impairment endorsement - Experience providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments
- Skill in adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility (braille, large print, assistive tech)
- Strong collaborative abilities to consult with classroom teachers, specialists, and families
- Passion for developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and implementing them effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Collaborate closely with general education staff to ensure accessible learning environments
- Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to IEP meetings
- Advocate for student accommodations and access across all educational settings
- Support orientation and mobility instruction in partnership with related service providers
- Provide resources, strategies, and training to school staff and families
