You will work regular school hours, totaling 37.5 hours per week, collaborating closely with other TVIs and Orientation & Mobility specialists to foster both academic achievement and independence in your students.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to work with colleagues, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to accommodating diverse learning styles and advocating for student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and utilize assistive devices to enhance access to learning
- Partner with Orientation & Mobility specialists to foster independence in and out of the classroom
- Offer training and guidance to general education staff and parents
- Maintain records, monitor student progress, and participate in IEP meetings
