Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by supporting their educational journey as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) on a contract basis. This opportunity offers the chance to work across a dynamic district, serving a districtwide itinerant caseload and delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments. The role is full-time (32.5 hours per week) and will be based on-site, helping to foster independence and academic success for learners with diverse needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid TVI educator license is required
- Experience working with visually impaired students in educational settings
- Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general and special education staff, families, and community resources
- Ability to travel between sites within the district
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation abilities
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and accommodations for visually impaired students
Responsibilities:
- Provide itinerant support and direct instruction to students with visual impairments across the district
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional visual abilities and educational needs
- Consult with teachers and staff on effective inclusion strategies and adaptive materials
- Train and support paraprofessionals and staff on Braille and accessible tools
- Maintain accurate progress and compliance documentation
- Act as an advocate for students and facilitate transitions across grade levels
