Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Hold a valid Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12) teaching certificate OR A Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to support accessible learning
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for students with visual impairments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across various school settings
- Assess student needs and develop individualized educational programs (IEPs) focused on visual impairment
- Collaboratively plan and implement instructional adaptations for curriculum accessibility
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers regarding materials, equipment, and teaching strategies
- Monitor student progress and regularly communicate outcomes to all stakeholders
- Support families and colleagues by providing training and strategies for effective support
This part-time role provides approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year, from July 27th, 2026, through May 25th, 2027.
