This part-time, onsite position is available near Des Plaines, IL, serving elementary through middle school students. Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired across a broad age range
- Strong communication skills and flexibility for an itinerant schedule
- Ability to create and adapt individualized instructional materials for varying needs
- Dedication to inclusive, student-centered teaching
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to visually impaired students in both elementary and middle school settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to foster student growth and independence
- Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to each student’s visual and learning needs
- Travel between sites within the district as part of the itinerant assignment
- Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations for accessible materials and assistive technology
This contract runs from August 11, 2026, to May 24, 2027. Your expertise will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum and build confidence in their abilities.
