Inspire and elevate student success as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, working full time throughout the school year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to positively impact students from early childhood through 12th grade across multiple districts in the Lake County area. You’ll enjoy a dynamic role where every day brings new experiences and meaningful interactions, making a lasting difference in the lives of 12 to 18 students.
The position runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, with guaranteed 7.5-hour workdays that include lunch. As you travel between districts, you provide essential support, ensuring students with visual impairments have the resources and instruction they need to thrive.
What You'll Bring:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students ages EC–12th grade preferred
- Ability to adapt materials and curriculum for various visual needs
- Strong communication, organizational, and self-management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between locations
- Knowledge of current assistive technology and IEP process
- Passion for fostering student independence and achievement
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to students’ individual visual needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff across districts
- Administer assessments, track progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Consult with families and school teams to implement strategies and accommodations
- Assist in the development and use of appropriate educational materials and technology
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion throughout schools
This contract role offers a pay rate starting at $35 per hour, commensurate with your experience.
