Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Douglasville, Georgia

You will work in an environment where your expertise in Braille, assistive technology, and best practices truly matters. Caseloads are thoughtfully divided across elementary, middle, and high schools, enabling you to build strong connections and provide consistent support. Although the position is itinerant, school assignments are conveniently grouped to limit time on the road.
Expect fulfilling variety—students participate in both general education and specialized programs for those with additional disabilities. The district makes collaboration seamless through its efficient TN Pulse platform for IEP management. You’ll take an integral part in developing and implementing IEPs, and have a voice in every student’s educational journey.
Qualifications:
- Valid and current DOE teaching certification
- At least five years’ experience as a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired for remote options
- Knowledge and fluency in Braille and assistive technology
- Understanding of assistive technology via Federal Quota program (preferred)
- Willingness to travel among assigned schools
- Skilled in collaborative IEP planning and execution
- Successfully cleared required fingerprint background checks
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Enhance curriculum and technology access (including Chromebooks)
- Lead the development, monitoring, and active participation in IEPs
- Travel efficiently between multiple assigned school sites
