This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated professional interested in a part-time, onsite role working alongside multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with educators and families. As an itinerant Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI), you'll provide specialized instructional support that fosters growth and independence among elementary and middle school learners.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with TVI endorsement is a must.
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments is a strong asset.
- Itinerant teaching experience is preferred for optimal success in this role.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with staff, students, and families.
- Strong organizational abilities and adaptability across different grade levels and school environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel between assigned schools to deliver direct and consultative services tailored to individuals or groups as outlined in student IEPs.
- Develop, implement, and adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each visually impaired student on your caseload.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility of learning materials and promote inclusion.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, assessments, and student progress evaluations.
- Provide training, resources, and advocacy for students, families, and school personnel.
