The position spans multiple locations with a flexible, part-time schedule averaging 20 hours per week, from late July through late May.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12), or Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments preferred
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individualized student needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with gen-ed staff, support teams, and families
- Strong organizational skills and attention to educational documentation requirements
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction, assessment, and support to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs
- Adapt core curriculum and create accessible learning resources
- Provide direct teaching in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility concepts as needed
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in meetings regarding student goals
- Serve as an educational resource for staff, sharing best practices on supporting visually impaired learners
