Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Active Virginia TVI license required
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired strongly encouraged
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive curriculum
- Confidence in teaching braille, orientation and mobility skills, and assistive technology
- Superb communication skills to effectively liaise with educators, families, and students
- Passion for empowering visually impaired students in academic and life skills
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction individually and in group settings for students with visual impairments
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals tailored to each learner
- Provide assessment, progress tracking, and input into multidisciplinary teams
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt materials and settings
- Support students in mastering braille, assistive technology, and independent mobility
- Participate in parent meetings, staff development, and ongoing professional growth
