This full-time contract opportunity spans the 2025–2026 school year, supporting students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Located near Chesapeake, VA, with caseloads across nearby cities, you’ll work closely with children who are visually impaired, shaping educational experiences that empower and inspire.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required)
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired in educational settings
- Familiarity with adaptive strategies, assistive technology, and individualized instruction for visually impaired students
- Ability to travel between school sites as needed within Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Suffolk
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with teachers, families, and support staff
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to K–12 students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) addressing unique student needs
- Adapt curriculum and teaching materials to provide accessible content
- Advise and collaborate with general education teachers on best practices for inclusion
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records in line with school and legal requirements
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and family consultations
Your work will directly impact students’ confidence and independence. The contract is full time (37.5 hours per week), offering a consistent schedule aligned with the school calendar from August 2025 through May 2026. Situational interviews are being scheduled immediately, with decisions made within 24–48 hours of interviewing.
