Key qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required)
- Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired
- Strong understanding of accessible curriculum adaptation and assistive technology
- A patient, adaptable, and collaborative approach to diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with visual impairments
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to implement IEPs and recommend accommodations
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Provide orientation and mobility strategies and teach daily living skills, when appropriate
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain timely and accurate records in accordance with district guidelines
