Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Teacher Certificate with appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
- Deep knowledge of strategies, accommodations, and adaptive technology for students who are blind or have low vision
- Experience working with K-12th grade students, including IEP development and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and school staff
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction aligned with students’ IEPs for those who are visually impaired
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure successful learning outcomes
- Assess students' strengths and needs, select appropriate curriculum resources, and implement adaptive/assistive technology
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and daily living skills as required
- Document progress and participate in IEP meetings, maintaining accurate student records
