Key Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required)
- Experience in supporting students with vision loss within a K-12 school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and the specific needs of visually impaired learners
- Ability to work seamlessly with general education, special education staff, and families
- Proficiency in adaptive technology and Braille
- Positive, student-centered approach with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and collaboratively develop IEP goals
- Design and deliver individualized interventions and accommodations
- Instruct students in appropriate use of assistive technology and Braille
- Serve as a resource to staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
- Advocate for students and participate in eligibility, IEP and team meetings
