Qualifications & Experience:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification required
- Prior experience working with students with visual impairments in K-12 preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt teaching methods
- Solid understanding of assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Creative problem-solving and resourcefulness in individualized instruction
- Team-oriented approach with teachers, support staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students in individual and group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accessible curricula and positive classroom experiences
- Recommend and support the use of specialized equipment and materials
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress, maintaining detailed student records
- Offer guidance to staff and families on strategies and tools for the visually impaired
