This contract opportunity begins July 27th, 2026, and continues through May 25th, 2027, serving multiple locations. You'll work part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, providing essential instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications that will set you up for success:
- Current teaching certification in Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12), or a Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are visually impaired, including developing and adapting curriculum
- Knowledge of assistive technology and accessible educational materials
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with families, staff, and other support professionals
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ visual needs
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to modify lessons and materials for accessibility
- Teaching Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive devices as appropriate
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining comprehensive records
- Providing guidance and support to parents, caregivers, and school staff on best practices for accessibility
