Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille, and diverse instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Organizational skills for managing caseloads and documentation effectively
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in classroom settings
- Assess students' abilities and needs, developing appropriate interventions and accommodations
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Train and consult with staff, families, and students on the use of assistive technology and adaptive materials
