Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, adaptive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to tailor educational strategies to meet diverse individual needs
- Organizational skills and flexibility in managing a caseload
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure accessibility and progress
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments individually or in small groups
- Modify classroom materials and collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion
- Train and consult with staff, families, and support personnel on best practices for working with visually impaired students
- Track and document student progress, adapting plans as necessary to promote continued growth
- Stay current with educational technology and tools designed for students with visual impairments
