Desired Qualifications:
- Holds active TVI educator license
- Experience working with K-12 students requiring visually impaired services
- Skilled in adapting curriculum materials and learning environments for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, staff, and specialists
- Organized approach to managing itinerant schedules and documentation
- Ability to travel within the district as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ visual needs and recommend appropriate instructional accommodations or modifications
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and life skills
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to maximize student access to educational opportunities
- Monitor student progress and maintain required records and reports
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in visually impaired education districtwide
