Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or the ability to obtain appropriate licensure
- Experience working in educational settings with students who have visual impairments
- Familiarity with Braille instruction and assistive technologies
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Adaptability and creativity in delivering individualized instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ strengths, needs, and progress, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction to students in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology
- Consult with teachers and support staff to modify general curriculum for accessibility and inclusion
- Advocate for student needs, and partner with families to encourage student independence
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and school-wide initiatives
- Maintain accurate progress and attendance records as required
