As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will provide specialized instruction and adapt curriculum material, ensuring accessibility and success for your students. Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities
- Strong understanding of Braille, large print, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate with school staff to tailor interventions
- Provide direct and consultative services as outlined in students’ IEPs
- Modify curriculum, teaching methods, and materials to support various access needs
- Partner with general education teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment
- Document and report on student progress, maintaining ongoing communication with families
