Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in school environments
- Strong grasp of individualized instructional strategies and adaptive technologies
- Ability to assess students’ needs and develop comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, flexibility, and organizational skills
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Create and adapt lesson plans to meet each student’s unique needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families for optimal student outcomes
- Facilitate braille and assistive technology instruction as needed
- Conduct vision assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and promote independence
- Maintain timely progress reports and documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines
